Anna May Yates, 88 of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at a local hospital. A Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at The Church of The Nativity with Father Steven McLoud as Celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Hospice of Siouxland or Holy Spirit Retirement Community. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. She received her education in Coleridge, Nebraska where upon graduation with the Class of 1943, she moved to Sioux City. Anna May married Edward Yates on August 9, 1948 in Hartington Nebraska. She enjoyed being a homemaker to her family, baking, gardening, and in later years, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna May was a member of The Church of The Nativity and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Anna May is survived by her daughters Dianne Miller (Ray Bennett) of Sioux City, Susan Verschoor (Bob Brady) of Dakota Dunes, SD, Merry Vondrak (Ben) of Sioux City, LeeAnn Chicoine (Jon) of Austin, TX, Beth Conley (Tim) of LeMars, and Janice Yates of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Dennis; and sister-in-law Maxine Cisney. Anna May was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward in 1994, 6 brothers, and son-in-law Gary Miller.
