Marie A. Hamm, 95, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at a Sioux City nursing home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad of Blessed Sacrament Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Marie was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Williams Township, Calhoun County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mayme (Walsh) Duffy. She graduated from Sac City High School in the class of 1939 and went on to attend beauty college. She was employed with Wincharger and later, with Zenith in Sioux City. She married Raymond David Hamm on Sept. 25, 1950, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa. Marie enjoyed working in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. Marie was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Marie is survived by one brother, Raymond Duffy and his wife, Donita of Sac City, Iowa; one sister, Grace Green of Sac City; one sister-in-law, Marcella Hamm of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Francis; and one sister, Angela O'Connor.
