Kenneth W. Huls, 83, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church with Reverend Ralph Shorey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kenneth was born the son of Christopher and Evelyn (Lawrence) Huls on August 22, 1930 in Akron, Iowa. He received his education in Akron and Westfield, graduating from Westfield High School. Ken married Marilyn Kappeler and to this union two daughters were born, Cindy and Lynda. Ken later married Lorraine Moore on September 28, 1990 in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage they moved to California, living in Modesto and Crescent City. In 2006 they moved back to Sioux City to be closer to family. Ken worked for AT&T for 30 years in Sunnyvale, California. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Western channel. He liked watching college football and basketball. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and pinochle. Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. Ken was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Ken is survived by his wife Lorraine Huls of Sioux City; two daughters, Cindy (Jimmy) Temple of Waterford, California and Lynda (Brad) Stock of Jasper, Missouri; one step-son, Jerry (Sherri) Moore of Ankeny, Iowa; one step-daughter, Kandis (Robert) Bock of Ankeny, Iowa; one brother, Robert (Karen) Huls of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Margaret Davis of Sioux City and Jody Farrington of Hardy, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene; one sister, Marjorie; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Davis and Dick Farrington.
