Buddy R. Lane Sr.

January 29, 1936 — April 15, 2014

Buddy R. Lane Sr., 78, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital due to a brief illness. Private memorial services will be held. The body has been cremated per our dad's wishes. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Buddy was born on Jan. 29, 1936, to Jack and Eileen (Petrik) Lane Sr., in Yankton, S.D. He grew up in Yankton and attended Yankton area schools. He met and married June Ashcraft of Sioux City. They were married in May 1954 in Mission Hill, S.D. The couple moved to Culver City, Calif. While in California, Bud was employed with Beverly Hills Transfer and Storage and a family owned business Culver City Van and Storage. While reflecting on his years of employment with these businesses, he always had a story to share, and had met many movie stars. In 1974, the family relocated to the Sioux City area, where he was employed with I-Go Moving and Storage until early retirement in 1989 due to health issues. Buddy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and family get togethers. Survivors include three sons, Buddy Jr. and Julie Lane of Sioux City, Scott Lane of Sioux City, and Jeff and Debra Lane of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Linda and Ben Cadawan of Sioux City, and Kelly Lane of Sioux City; one sister, Joyce Browne and her husband, Kenneth of Sioux City; former wife, June Lane Lowery; nine grandchildren, Bobby, B.J., Sara, Jeff, Joe, Tisha, Tara, Khai, and Blake; and nine great-grandchildren, Jesus, Cruz, Alicia, Alexis, Aaliyah, Ayva, Sophie, Aiden and Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Delperdang; and one brother, Jack Lane Jr. Thank you to senior companion and friend, Ronnie Stowe, for your help and kindness toward our dad. He will be greatly missed.
