Della Mae Emmick, 90, of Dakota Dunes passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at a Sioux City nursing home. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11th and Jackson St., in Sioux City, with the Rev. R. Paul Johnston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Della was born on Sept. 15, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Della (Mass) DeBardeleber. She graduated from Tacoma (Wash.) High School in 1941. She became a resident of the Sioux City area following the marriage to her husband, Don Emmick, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City in 1944. Della was a homemaker. Della was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. Della was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening with exotic plants, gourmet cooking groups, bridge club, and traveling. Della is survived by Donald Emmick; three children, Robert Emmick, Larry Emmick, and Gloria Emmick; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Della was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister. Memorials in her name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
