Donna J. Chase, 84, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 with Rev. Roger Madden officiating at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Donna was born on June 13, 1929 in Plainview, MN to Jacob and Violet (Briske) Hemler. She was united in marriage to Wesley Peterson and to this union 1 son was born. She was later married to Marvin Chase on November 5, 1948 in South Sioux City, NE. She worked for Interbake Foods and was a member of the Bakers Local Union #433. Donna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her 4 children, Virginia (Verryl) Rose of Council Bluffs, IA; Judith Byers of Council Bluffs, IA; Richard (Wendy) Chase of Mapleton, IA and Wesley (Judy) Peterson, JR. of Sioux City; 8 grandchildren Marla, Ed (Heather), Scott (Connie), Angie (John), Tina (Ron), Brad (Dena), Joshua and Justin (Kari) and 16 great grandchildren, Corbin,Piper, Ciara, Taryn, Kayana, Jaycee, Jaylyn, Jessica, Madison, Katie, Jessica, Kaiyna, Bethany, Emmy, Kila, and Treven; 3 brothers LeRoy (Piko) Sorenson of FL; Duane (Esther) Sorenson of Sioux City and Roger Hemler of Portage, Wi and a sister Jackie Cocherell of Amery, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters Betty and Georgia and a son in law Randall Byers. Pallbearers will Scott Byers, John VanderVoorde, Josh Chase, Justin Chase, Logan Sorenson and Brian Sorenson.
