He is the middle child of 2 sisters, Sylvia Kauffman & Bette (Greg) Mann of Des Moines. Harlan married Jane Grylls in 1958. He later married Kim Taff in 1986. A former Marine turned businessman and politician. Harlan studied at the University of Minnesota and landed his first job at Dun & Bradstreet in Chicago, Illinois. He was later Mayor of Canton, Illinois before closing the door on politics and going into business where he was most recently a Partner turned President at Williams & Company Consulting in Sioux City, Iowa. If you met Harlan later in life, he would have tried to convince you he was a comedian or a professional golfer. The latter being more likely. There wasn't a course he didn't try to tame, going as far as Scotland to do so. And his sense of humor came into play both on and off the course. Harlan also got joy out of giving back and created the Crouch Education Foundation in 1998. The scholarship gave financial aid for those who need assistance with college tuition and was a regular contributor to non-profit organizations around Siouxland. Survivors include: wife Kim, sons John (Mary) of Wesley Chapel, FL & Van (Renee) Crouch of Canton, IL, daughters Susan (Doug) Manock of Canton, Il, Brandy (Matt) TenHulzen of Sgt. Bluff, IA & Jessica Taff of New York, NY. Grandchildren Gabby, Olivia, Corie & Cody Manock of Canton, IL, Breanna & Madison TenHulzen of Sgt. Bluff, IA, Alan vanMaastricht of Burton, SC and Melanie vanMaastricht of Wesley Chapel, FL as well as many nieces and nephews.
