Becky A. Fekete, 79, of Sioux City passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Abiding by her wishes, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Becky was born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Olney, Ill., to Alvis and Ruth (Kester) Lashbrooke. She graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, Ind. In her younger years, Becky owned and operated her own grocery store called Ann's Food and Dairy in Hobart, Ind., and was district manager over several Seven-11s. After marrying Nick Fekete on July 10, 1976, in Hobart, they moved to Sioux City where she devoted her life to God and her family as well as spending time on the golf course. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of many different leagues in those sports. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed studying the Bible. In her free time, she enjoyed gambling at various casinos with family and friends in North Sioux City. She was also a huge Elvis fan. Becky was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was being a certified lay leader filling the pulpits in many churches around the area. She is survived by her loving husband, Nick Fekete of Sioux City; four daughters, Kris (Mark) Zeimet of Sioux City, Bobbi (Robert) Grohmann of Waconia, Minn., Lisa (Joe) Creed of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dannette (Gary) Hunnel of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Alexandra (Craig) Miller, Nickolas Zeimet, Samantha and Maxwell Grohmann, Jacob, Lizzy, and Carrie Creed, Ben Hunnel, Madison Hunnel, Cheryl (Brad) Brunin, and Erica Moises; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jerry Lashbrooke. Memorials may be made in Becky's name to Westlawn Presbyterian Church, Merrill United Methodist Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
