Carl D. Fenceroy, Sr, 60 of Sioux City passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Carl was born June 30, 1953 in Wilmot, AR; he was the son of Warren and Lucy Mae (Wimberley) Fenceroy. He grew up in Arkansas and came to Sioux City at the age of 16. Carl graduated from Central High School in 1971 and Moody Bible College in Chicago. He later attended the Siouxland Christian College and Theological Seminary, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He married Elaine DenBeste Dec. 23, 1978 in Sioux City. Carl began working for the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1971 and has worked there for 43 years. He is a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and is the 1st licensed lay minister to serve under Pastor Brown. He was the superintendent of church school for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife Elaine of Sioux City; his children: Carissa Fenceroy Moment (Aaron) of Omaha, NE, Carl D. Fenceroy, Jr. (Jami Fitzgerald) of Woodward, IA, Charity Fenceroy of Sioux City and Tanisha Fenceroy-Wood of Dayton, OH; his mother: Lucy Mae Jones of Sioux City; 6 brothers: Warren Fenceroy, Jr (Edna), Oliver Fenceroy, Sr (Kathy), James Fenceroy (Becky), Albert Fenceroy (Loretta), S.L. Fenceroy (Gloria), and Leotis Fenceroy; 3 sisters: Alma Schmitt (Steve), Elnora Gentry (Isaac) and Charlene Fenceroy-Casteel; 11 grandchildren: Treyvon Fenceroy, Taejhamel Fenceroy-Williams, Takayma Fenceroy-Williams, Calianna Jo Fenceroy, Taylor Fenceroy, DeVante Barnes, Kiana Barnes, Tarrick White and Tyre Wood, Jon'Quez Epperson Moment, Dyamund Lucas Moment and several nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Warren; a brother Napoleon; his twin sister, Carolyn Cooper. A memorial has been established in Carl's name.
