Darla S. Mathieson, 63, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at home in her sleep. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at The Throttle on Monday 31 at 4 p.m. The Throttle is located on highway 75, next to Navarette's. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Darla was born on May 31, 1950 in Sioux City to Wallace and Eileen (Cole) Teska. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School. Darla married Richard (Rick) Mathieson on October 18, 1969 in Sioux City. She enjoyed being a homemaker as she raised her two children, Jon and Melissa. Darla was a school bus driver from 1979 before retiring in 1994 and once again enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an animal lover, with a special love in her heart for her cat, Joey and dog, Lily. She enjoyed gardening, both indoors and outdoors and was an avid reader. Darla was a caregiver to her mother Eileen before her passing in 2013. She was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and a fan of NASCAR. Darla is survived by her husband, Rick, of Sioux City, daughter Melissa and her Husband Brian Brausen of St. Paul, Minnesota, Son Jon Mathieson of Melbourne, Florida and his son Jack, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and her very close friend Pam Ericson and many others. Darla was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and 3 brothers.
