She was born on March 4, 1926, in Kimball, S.D., to James and Muriel (Glynn) Colvin. Moving to Sioux City in 1936, the former Ms. Yvonne Colvin graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1943. That same year, she was introduced to the love of her life, Cy Anderson, by Ruth Green, on her first day of work while employed at Sioux City East High School. The couple was married on April 22, 1950, at Saint Joseph Church in Sioux City. From 1947 to 1956, Mrs. Anderson was employed at Mahoney Motors in Sioux City. After her children started school, she was employed as a computer programmer at Iowa Beef Processors until 1977. An active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish for more than 50 years, Mrs. Anderson, was also involved in numerous philanthropic and civic organizations including Jackson Recovery, S.T.A.R.S., Girls Inc., the Central High School Class of 1943 Reunion Committee, and the Sioux City Figure Skating Club. A graceful dancer and elegant dresser, she and her husband were members of the 100 Club during the 1960s and 70s. Following Mr. Anderson's retirement from the trucking and automotive business in 1987, the couple traveled and remained active community members. The Andersons were regular precinct workers on election days, and Iowa Democratic Party activists in Woodbury County. Mrs. Anderson was also an enthusiastic gardener, golfer and bowler. She was an avid reader of news and current events. She was an unmatched writer of cards, notes, and wishes of love, support, and encouragement. She was noted for saying, "don't quit." Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Cyril V. Anderson of Sioux City; a daughter, Cindy A. Hagen of Sioux City; a son, James (Jana) Anderson of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren, Julie Cyvonne and Frederick "F.J." Hagen of Sioux City, and Stella Marie Anderson of Chicago; and two brothers, Rodney (Karla) Colvin of Rochford S.D., and Dennis (Marlene) Colvin of Anoka, Minn.
