Alice I. Steele, 99 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Touchstone Living Center. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church in Allen, Nebraska with Reverend Sarah Ruch officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Allen. Visitation will be on Friday, March 28th at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday Evening. Online condolences may be offered the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Alice was born on July 20, 1914 in Allen, Nebraska to Louis and Anna (Swanson) Reuter. She received her education in Allen, NE before her marriage to Elmer W. Steele on June 1, 1933. Alice worked as a cook in the Allen School System for several years before working at the Zenith Manufacturing. She finished her career as a dietitian at the Wakefield Nursing Home, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed living in Allen, NE until her move to Sioux City in 2000. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Allen, NE. Alice is survived by her two daughters Burdon (Jerry) Arnold of Coon Rapids, MN and Beverly Jenkins of Sioux City, IA; son Delmer (Mary) Steele of Omaha, NE; brother Marvin (Mae) Reuter of South Sioux City, NE; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer in 1976, one brother, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
