Darlene D. Carlson, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Darlene was born the daughter of William and Bernice (Budworth) Altimus on May 16, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa. Darlene married Leslie Carlson on September 27, 1942 in Sioux City. Darlene was a homemaker. She enjoyed ceramics and vacationing with family at Lake Shetek, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Siouxland. Darlene is survived by her children, Leslie Carlson, Jr. of Rocklin, California, Patty (Robert) Smith of Sioux City, Iowa, Ronnie (Deb) Carlson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Steve (Janelle) Carlson of Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Mark and Allen Carlson, Bob E. and Kevin Smith, Chad Carlson, Shane Carlson, and Crystal Myer; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Clyde Grimes, Robert, Edward, Charles, and Elroy Altimus; five sisters, Evelyn Hauser, Vivian Hoover, Ethel Altimus, Winifred Miller and Wilma Statler; one daughter-in-law Sue Carlson.
