Betty J. Corwin, 92, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Hinton passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at a Sioux Falls Care Center. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Hinton United Methodist Church with Reverend Kolleen Queener and Reverend Ross Reinhiller officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Betty was born April 7, 1921 in Sioux City, the daughter of Alvin "Ellie" and Clara (Vogt) Ellison. She grew up in Hinton, IA and graduated from Hinton High School. Betty married Richard E. "Dick" Corwin on April 12, 1941 in Hinton. While Dick was at war, Betty worked for a seed company in Sioux City. Later she worked part time as a telephone operator for Jones Telephone Company in Hinton before becoming a selling supervisor for JC Penney in Sioux City, retiring in 1983. She and Dick loved taking trips together, square dancing, fishing and golfing. Betty also loved to bake and cross stitch. She was an active member of Hinton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Shrine Auxillary. Survivors include her children Doug and wife Nancy Corwin of Beresford, SD and Yvonne and husband Steve Mossberg of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Brian Corwin, Chris and wife Sandi Corwin, Matt Mossberg and fiancé Alex Nelson, and Sarah (Mossberg) and husband Damion Wright; great grandchildren: Joseph, Benjamin, Logan, and Ireland; sister in law Shirley Ellison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Charles Ellison and sister Mary Ann Litterick. Memorials may be given to the Shrine Transportation Fund or the American Diabetes Association in Betty's name.
