Clayton F. Goodwin, 82, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at his residence following a long illness. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 with Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Military funeral graveside honors conducted by the US Naval Reserves will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Clayton was born on July 12, 1931 in Carroll, IA to George and Dovie (Fletcher) Goodwin. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. After returning home he was a fireman for the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sergeant Bluff. Later he delivered mail for the US Postal Service retiring after 29 years. He was married to Betty Tapper on June 11, 1952 in San Jose, CA. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1987 in Sioux City. He was later married to Gloria Udell on September 3, 1988 in Elk Point, SD. He enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and harvesting various fruits. Clayton was an outdoors man enjoying woodworking, fishing, hunting, and all types of birds. He was a member of the American Legion. Clayton is survived by his wife Gloria Goodwin of Sioux City; daughter Debra (Jeff) Lane of Tacoma, WA; and a son Daniel (Susan) Goodwin of Salix, IA; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brother Jerry Goodwin and significant other Ellie of Uma, AZ; sister Doris Pile of Lincoln, NE and Carolyn (Jerry) Fischer of Mesa, AZ.. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty and 2 sisters Della and Betty.
