Sandra S. Pomeroy

Sandra S. Pomeroy, 76, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the United Church of Pender with Pastor Steve Breazier officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery outside Pender. Visitation will be today; Friday, February 21st from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church with family present at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com Sandy was born on January 18, 1938 in Pender, Nebraska daughter of George C. and Blanche (Griffin) Clausen. She graduated from Pender High School and substitute taught for several years. She married Keith Pomeroy on November 14, 1968 at the Omaha Benson Church in Omaha, Nebraska. After staying home for many years caring for her children, Sandy reentered the workforce and went to work for the Thurston County Treasurer office in 1982 as a clerk. She thoroughly enjoyed working in the treasurer's office and was Deputy Treasurer for 12 years until 1999, when she became Thurston County Treasurer until her retirement in 2003. Sandy was a lifetime member of the United Church of Pender and was very involved with the United Women of Pender Church Circle. She loved going camping, cheering on the Huskers, spending time with her grandchildren, and "checking the river". Sandy was a member of Gamma Iota for many years. Sandy is survived by her daughter Heide (Pomeroy) Grote and her husband Dan and their children Nicholas, Makayla, Tyler and Madison; son Steve Pomeroy and his wife Cathy and their son Jake; grandson Chris Schilling; and brother Reid and his wife Ann. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Arlon Barker, husband Keith Pomeroy in 2012, sister Beverly Beer, and daughter Cathy (Pomeroy) Schilling.
