Karen Marie Moser, 70 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at a local hospital. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and private services will be at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Karen was born on December 23, 1943 in Sioux City, daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Esther (Aspleaf) Porter, Jr. She was raised in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School with the Class of 1961. Karen worked as a clerk for the Prudential Insurance Company in downtown Sioux City before she married Michael L. Moser on April 4, 1964. To this union, three children were born, and during the years of 1967 to 1988, Karen stayed home and was a homemaker to her husband and children. When Karen reentered the workforce, she did so with the Sioux City Public Schools, working at the Smith School in food service and clerical in the office. She enjoyed playing cards, and was a member of a once-a-month social group that enjoyed pot-luck dinners before each card game. Karen is survived by her husband Mike of Sioux City; son Kevin Moser and his wife Julie of Cincinnati, Ohio and their two children Jacob and Sarah; daughter Kimberly Marie Henrickson and her husband Dan of Dallas, Oregon, and their daughter Rachel; father Kenneth Porter, Jr. of Sioux City; and sister Shirley from Washington state. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, son Kirk Moser in 1989 and sister Gloria "Jean" Eilts in 2009.
