James W. Henry

SIOUX CITY | James W. "Jim" Henry, 89, of Midland, Mich., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 in Midland. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel He was employed by KCAU, where he started his long television career and created the long running Canyon Kids Korner children's show hosted by the "Canyon Kid" personality that he created. He also hosted a 4:00pm half hour show for adults and later hosted for KTIV the "Around Siouxland" show Jim was instrumental in the startup of local theater in Sioux City which is now known as the Sioux City community theater. Jim served in World War II as a first lieutenant bombardier in the 836th Bomb Squadron, European Theater of the Army Air Corps of the United States. He is survived by two daughters from an earlier marriage, Susan Peterson (John) of California and Julie Manteufel (Rick) of Wisconsin, and grand children and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Florence & Albert Henry and two sons, Alan & Brian Henry. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
