Elwood, W. "Woody" Rask, 69, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Augustana Lutheran Church with Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Woody was born on October 27, 1944 to Elwood A. and Minnie (Baker) Rask in Minneapolis, MN. His father's job on the Great Northern Railway brought the family to Sioux City in 1957. He delivered many newspapers on his Sioux City Journal routes. A little later he worked at the Economy Market where he made a name for himself by being ever- cheerful and helpful to the customers. He graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1962. He was married to Lynne M. Hall on March 24, 1965 in Elk Point, SD. A born salesman, Woody worked his whole life in sales. He sold for Miller Bros. Furniture and later was in car sales at R&B Motors. After retirement he continued to sell cars at Coney's Used Cars. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. Woody had a passion for motorcycles and cars, he enjoyed searching and learning about all makes and models. He could diagnose a vehicles's trouble and recommend the right "cure" by just hearing about the "symtoms". He was honest, good-natured and never met a stranger. He loved his family with his whole heart. He was a father figure to many of his children's friends. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Lynne; son William (Wood) and wife Roxanne Rask of Lincoln, NE; daughter Wendy Rask and husband Trey Fischbach of Travelers Rest, SC; 4 grandchildren Kate, Meg, Olivia, and Ethan; a sister Carol Bjornsen and husband Lorren of Sioux City; brother-in-law Gary Hall and wife Julianne Gilmore of Alexandria, VA; a cousin Mary Kay Richards and nieces Vicki (Mike) Bertrand and Holly (Evan) Klein and nephew, Mike (Tina) Kuehl and their children to whom he was always " Uncle Woody". He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, David Hall and father-n-law, R. Blake Hall.
