Lori L. Layhee, 53, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., passed away Thursday, January 23rd, following a five year battle with cancer. Services will be Monday, January 27th, at 1:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Fr. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday all at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lori was born May 31st, 1960, in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Dean and Sally (Stuehmer) Prince. She graduated from West High School in 1978. In May of 2002, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Briar Cliff University. She joined the tanworld franchise in 2005 as the owner of both tanworld of Dakota Dunes and Vermillion. Lori will be remembered for her philanthropic efforts throughout the Siouxland area as a volunteer for Girls Incorporated and a member of their Board of Directors for over a decade. She was an active member of her Sacred Heart parish and the Bishop Heelan Community. Lori also showed steadfast support toward research studies at the Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls, SD. Lori's life will be lovingly remembered by her family, which include her husband, David Layhee of Dakota Dunes,SD; two daughters, Lindsey Jeratowski of Omaha, NE, and Kelsey and her husband, Kyle Bennett of Elkhorn, NE; her business partner, Nicholas Long of McCook Lake, S.D.; her father, Dean Prince of Sioux City; her mother, Sally Prince of Sioux City; her sister, Tracy Peterson of Sioux City; 2 step daughters: four nieces and nephews, Tony Valladolid Jr, Nicole Gosch, Tyler Valladolid Parker and Sidney Valladolid; 2 step daughters: Tana Archer and Brenna Rosenquist of Dakota Dunes, SD She was preceded in death by her grandparents; brother, Dr. Dean Prince; father-in-law, Patrick Layhee; and mother-in-law, Bernice Layhee. Pallbearers will be Michael and Timothy Layhee, Tony Valladolid Jr, Tyler Valladolid Parker, Ron Yockey and Kyle Bennett. In lieu of flowers, please direct your generous donations to Hospice of Siouxland or the Avera Cancer Institute in Sioux Falls, SD in Lori's honor.
