Belva Jean "Jean" Pridie, 83, of Sioux City, passed away January 17, 2014 at a local care facility. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Michael Erpelding officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Vigil at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Belva Jean was born the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Altimus) Sturgeon on June 11, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended Central High School. She married Lawrence "Larry" Pridie on January 5, 1949 in Sioux City. She worked for Wincharger and Zenith Corporation until its closing. She later attended cosmetology school and ran a beauty shop out of her house. Jean enjoyed reading and flowers. She was a great artist. Family and spending time with her grandchildren were the most important things in her life. Belva is survived by five children, Rita (Steve) Ellwein of Sioux City, Lawrence "Bud" (Barb) Pridie, Jr. of St. George, Utah, Patrick (Deb) Pridie of Liberal, Kansas, Danny Pridie of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Susan (Dennis Dumerauf) Krentz of Des Moines, Iowa; three half brothers, Lee Sturgeon of Florida, Marlin Sturgeon of Sioux City, Iowa, and John Sturgeon of Des Moines, Iowa; one half sister, Thelma Kay Forsley of Sioux City, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; and one half brother, Richard Sturgeon.
