Robert was born the son of George and Mary Emily (Macken) Campbell on June 22, 1942 in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Lourdes High School and attended Rochester Junior College. Robert married Florence Lewis on June 22, 1963 in Sioux City. They had lived for a short time in Rapid City, Rochester, and Minneapolis before making their home in Sioux City. Bob, always the salesman, sold insurance for Blue Cross Blue Shield before becoming a real estate broker. He was instrumental in starting both Associated Brokers and Gateway Realty and was well respected amongst his real estate professional peers. His leadership and vision at the Board of Realtors office helped move the Sioux City real estate industry into the technology age. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Every year, Bob would make the 500 mile trip to Northern Minnesota with his sons and grandsons to Lake Winnibigoshish and participate in the George F Campbell Memorial Day Annual Men's Fishing Trip. This tradition, which was started by his father over 50 years ago, was one of Bob's fondest memories. Catching walleyes, telling stories, and spending time with his boys while relaxing in "The Narrows", would describe one of Bob's perfect days. Bob also enjoyed golfing (although he would admit his wife was a significantly better golfer than he ever was) photography, building and flying model airplanes, and riding his motorcycle, which included several trips to Sturgis. He was proud of his involvement in AA and his sobriety since 1981. Most importantly, Bob cherished spending time with his wife, Florence. Traveling to New York City, Hawaii, the US Virgin Islands, and visiting his kids who are spread out all over the country were all things Bob enjoyed with his wife. Bob was a member of the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ where he served as an usher for several years. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence of Sioux City; children, Robert (Gloria) Campbell of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rebecca (Gary) Doyle of Scottsdale, Arizona, Anthony Campbell of Lake Dallas, Texas, Teresa Campbell of Tuscon, Arizona, Michael (Jill) Campbell of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Matthew (Stacey) Campbell of Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, Richard (Martha) Campbell of Fremont, Nebraska, David (Pat) Campbell of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Mark (Ann) Campbell of Golden Valley, Minnesota; one sister, Mary Beth (Marty) Gores of Prior Lake, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren, Dustin, Christopher, Joey, Elizabeth, Henry, Anna, Emily, Aaron, Alex, Hayley, Hannah, Josh, Jacque, Ruby, Claire, Ryan, Luke, and Evan; and two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Derek. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Care Initiatives Hospice.
