Tillie Krickman, 97, the former Tillie Bass passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 in Appleton, WI. Services will be at 11:30 A.M. this Sunday at Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City. Mr. Frank Baron will officiate. Burial will be in the Independent Farane Cemetery in Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Tillie was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She was born December 25, 1916 in Sioux City. She attended Sioux City Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in June of 1933. She was selected as a member of the National Honor Society. She married Max Krickman December 25, 1940 in Sioux City. They were happily married for 42 years until his passing in 1982. Mrs. Krickman, affectionately known as Ms. Tillie by her kindergarten students, was a beloved Sunday school teacher at Shaare Zion and Congregation Beth Shalom Synagogues for over 25 years. Tillie was an active member of Shaare Zion Synagogue participating on the synagogue board. She was also a member of the Women's League and Hadassah organizations. A devoted volunteer in the gift shop at St. Luke's Hospital, Tillie brought smiles to many with her warm personality and thoughtful ways. Tillie loved being with people and worked with them in many capacities throughout her life. Her first position was as an executive secretary at Younkers Department Store in Sioux City. She also worked at the Sioux City Court House for a number of years. Loving and enjoying children, Tillie's favorite job was working as an elementary school librarian for the Sioux City Public School System for over 25 years. She was a loving and caring mom and a kind generous person who had a zest for life. Her family was of the utmost importance to her always. She will be greatly missed. Tillie is survived by her 2 daughters: Judy Phillips and her husband Ron of Naples, FL, Linda Vaughn and her husband Mark of Neenah, WI; 5 grandchildren: Laura Binnick, Jeffrey Phillips and Ryan Vaughn, Jaime Lindall, Jason Vaughn and 7 great grandchildren
