Raymond R. Kimpson, 78, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2014 at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Merill Muller officiating with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Following the services his body will be cremated and burial of his cremains will be at a later date. Ray was born on July 22, 1935 in Corning, Iowa to Wayne Scott and Alberta (Lee) Kimpson. He was united in marriage to Winifred Garrett on July 17. 1967 in Sioux Falls, SD. Ray was a proud Sheet Metal Worker for Fabricators, Local #3. Ray was always the life of the party. His ability to charm, tell stories, make people laugh, fix things, strike up a conversation with a stranger will always leave on impact on everyone's lives. He was a real hands on guy who enjoyed tinkering and working on things, especially rebuilding or remodeling houses, cars, and plumbing. He also enjoyed attending auctions and collecting antiques. Ray is survived by his wife Winnie Kimpson of Sioux City; son Rick Kimpson of Red Oak, IA; son Michael (Terri) Kimpson of Griswold, IA; step son Bill Hoover of Pheonix, AZ; daughter Lori (Brian) Harris of Ames, IA; daughter Tami (Doug) Ziegler of Vernon Center, MN; son Tim (Cindy) Kimpson of Omaha, NE; daughter Lisa (Scott) Stewart of Sidney, NE, son, Chris (Jill) Kimpson of Des Moines, IA; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Russell (Sandy) Kimpson of Sioux City; Stanley (Beth) Kimpson of Griswold, IA; and Steven (Stephani) Kimpson of Griswold, IA; 5 sisters Delores Yarger of MO; Dorothy (John) Boyd of Memphis, TN; Roberta (Tom) Shellburg of Griswold, IA; Virginia (Warren) Elwood of Red Oak, IA and Anieta (Jack) Gregory of Griswold, IA.
