Harold R. Karrer, 90 of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Rev. James Travis will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Harold was born August 16, 1923 in Sioux City; he was the son of Adolph and Freda (Woodrig) Karrer. Harold grew up in Sioux City and on a farm outside of Sioux City before his family moved to a farm near Kingsley, IA. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1939. Harold married Ellen Rasmussen Aug. 8, 1953 in South Sioux City, NE. They farmed and feed cattle for many years in the Kingsley area until retiring in 2005. Harold and Ellen moved to Sioux City after their retirement. Harold was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran church. He served on the Board of Directors of the Kingsley Coop and enjoyed hunting. Survivors include his wife: Ellen; a daughter: Cindy (Livermore) Karrer; a son: Mark Karrer all of Sioux City; 3 grandchildren: Brandon and Dustin Livermore and Ashley Karrer; 2 great grandchildren: Cheyanne and Wyatt Livermore. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Ted Karrer and a sister: Marie Moore Pallbearers will be Brandon and Dustin Livermore, Ronnie and Dennis Karrer, Kevin and Dave Heeney.
