Patricia "Pat" Eileen Privett, 74, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, January 5th, 2014 at a local hospital. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pat was born August 27, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Indiana the daughter of Ellis Raymond and Roseanna Tabitha (Scott) Nichols. She graduated high school and attended Perdue University, Harvard University, and the University of Iowa getting her Masters in childhood education. She married James E. Privett. To this union, seven children were born. The couple later divorced. Pat married Garry Comer Sr. in 1983. He preceded her in death on March 1st, 2010 in Sioux City. Pat taught elementary school in Franklin, Indiana and Defiance, Ohio. She then worked for the Sioux City Police Department, Davenport Cleaners, Kum & Go, and Speedy Auto Wash. Her greatest love was volunteering for various community organizations. She was a master gardener for the Friends of Latham Park, a caregiver for the Dinosaur Park and Butterfly Garden, a volunteer for the Republican Office in Sioux City, the Vice President for the Rose Hill Coalition and a member of the Neighborhood Coalition. She also volunteered for the Siouxland Recycling Center and was a member of the committee of community enhancement for the Chamber of Commerce. Pat was a huge Perdue Boilmakers Fan. Survivors include her children: Nick (Connie) Privett of Sioux City, Shirley Privett of Burlington, IA, Brian, John, and Jim Privett of Sumter, SC, and Julie (Michel) Touihri of Charleston, SC. Her step children: Deborah (Ken) Clark of Sgt. Bluff, Gary (Amanda) Comer Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Patricia (Paul) Kasulka of Elk Point, SD, Neal Comer of Virginia, MN, Heather Dungan of Cherokee, IA, and Jason Comer of Sioux City; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: Jack (Joan) Nichols of Indiana, Jerry (JoAnne) Nichols of Ohio, and Barry (Terry) Nichols of Indiana; special friends: John Iversen, Hope and John Waller, and Kathleen Torbensen; and her favorite dog Sunshine. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 26 years Garry Comer Sr., daughter Cindy Privett, and grandson Michael Todd Baker. Memorials may be sent to the family to use of planting a tree in Pat's memory.
