James "Jim" Norby, 47 of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jim was born Feb. 9, 1966 in Sioux City; he was the son of Donald and Jean (Rokusek) Norby. He grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Boniface Grade School. Jim Graduated from Heelan High School and Briar Cliff College. He worked for the Center for Siouxland for several years and has been employed by the U.S. Postal Service for the last 12 years. Jim was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. Survivors include: a son: Andrew Norby of Sioux City; a daughter: Lindsey Norby of Kansas City, MO; his parents: Donald and Jean Norby of Sioux City; a granddaughter: BrookLynn Norby; 3 brothers and a sister: David Norby and his wife Kenna of McCook Lake, SD, LeAnn Hanson and her husband Rodney of Sioux City, Randy Norby of Brunswick, GA, Ronald Norby and his wife Bobbette of Sioux City, several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by a sister in law: Linda Norby, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
