Anthony L. "Tony" Wolff, 90, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Entombment will be in the Columbarium at St. Francis of Assisi in Fairfield Bay, Ark. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with the family present 6-8 p.m., a vigil service at 7 p.m. and a Chalice service by the 4th degree Knights of Columbus At Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com Tony was born July 24, 1923 in O'Neill, Nebr. the son of Theodore and Elizabeth (Bose) Wolff. He attended school in Howells, Nebr. then was called into the Army during WWII. On Sept. 20, 1945 he married Leona F. "Lea" Baker at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebr. Tony worked for Omaha Steel Works then for National Limbs, Inc. In 1954 he was transferred to the Sioux City branch as mgr. In this Medical profession he gained the title of Certified Orthotist, helping patients with their need for braces and artificial limbs. Tony regularly brought his services to hospitals in Fort Dodge and Mason City, Ia. as well. He later acquired the Sioux City branch and renamed it National Limb and Brace Co. In later years he sold the business to American Prosthetics staying on as mgr. and consultant until retirement in 1983. Upon "retiring" Tony and Lea moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark. in 1984 where he opened a part-time shoe repair business called "Ye Olde Cobbler's Shoppe". They returned to Sioux City in April of this year. Tony was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church for 30 years. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. At St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay he helped establish a local K of C council and served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. In Sioux City Tony enjoyed league bowling and also sponsored a nurse's team. He was an avid supporter of Heelan and Briar Cliff sports. In Ark. he enjoyed gardening and always loved family visits. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lea; 3 children and their spouses, Kenneth and Fern Wolff of Dakota Dunes, SD; Duane and Konnie Wolff of Sioux City, and Sue and Brian Christensen of Omaha, Ne.; a brother, Edward Wolff of Dodge, Ne.; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Heger, Kevin Wolff, Amanda Wolff (fiance', Jason Amundson),Todd Christensen and Sean Christensen; a step-grandson, Jason (Missy) Christensen; 5 great- grandchildren; and 2 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Laura and Elizabeth Ridder and 3 brothers, Ted, Joe, and John Wolff. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
