Leo W. Wagner, 86, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., from congestive heart failure. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial with military graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Leo was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Wagner, S.D., the son of William and Rosa (Cote) Wagner. Leo came to Sioux City as a child and attended Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Leo married Erdeen "Cookie" Barry on May 14, 1949, in Sioux City. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Leo was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Men's Club as well as the Boys of 68. He was very handy and could repair most anything. Leo enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bowling and golfing. Survivors included his wife, Erdeen "Cookie" Wagner of Sioux City; two sons, Larry Wagner and his wife, Nancy of Fremont, Neb., and Tom Wagner and his wife, Marilyn of Norfolk, Neb.; a sister, Eileen White of Mt. Angel, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Connie Lorenzen of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Albert Kreutz of Aurelia, Iowa; six grandsons, Scott, Kevin, Randy, Adam, John and Trent Wagner; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Memorials may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
