SIOUX CITY | Philip Paul Jorgensen, 93, formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Avenue in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home. Born June 28, 1920, to Jens and Ruth (Riese) Jorgensen, Phil was the middle of three brothers, Jack (older) and Thomas (younger). He married Ann (Kegelmeyer) Jorgensen in 1946. They had two sons, Roger (Barbara) Jorgensen of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Chris (Katherine) Jorgensen of Urbandale, Iowa. He leaves four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Megan) Jorgensen of Waukee, Iowa, Kristin (David) Lesser of Chicago, Ill., Julie (Fabian) Morocho of West Des Moines, and Lisa Jorgensen of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Jorgensen, Daisy Morocho and Zach Jorgensen. Phil and Ann were lifelong residents of Sioux City. They moved to Urbandale, Iowa, in 2001 to be closer to their sons. Phil lived at Woodlands Creek Assisted Living in Clive, Iowa, since 2003. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers' Union and worked at Kalin's Heating and Air Conditioning. Retiring in 1982, Phil and Ann spent their winters in Casa Grande, Ariz., and traveled around the states. A skilled woodworker, Phil was jack of all trades and master of many. Philip could fix anything and never hesitated to help others. He left behind many examples of his woodworking skills for his family to remember him by. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann in 2004; and his brothers, Jack and Tom. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
