Richard "Dick" V. Warren, 82 of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013 at a local nursing facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Erpelding as Celebrant. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors by the United States Army. Visitation will be on Monday, December 9th at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Memorial may be made to the family. Dick was born on July 16, 1931 in Akron, Iowa to Miles and Rita (McGraw) Warren. He graduated from Akron High School. Dick married Patricia Calfior on July 19, 1951 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, enlisting in 1952 and receiving his honorable discharge in 1954. Dick enjoyed working in sales, starting out in the lower level of Younkers in Sioux City selling shoes, and later traveled a wide region of the United States training other staff members on selling techniques for new store openings. He finished his sales career by selling insurance for Penn Life. Dick enjoyed golfing, gardening, walking, and any type of family get-togethers where he was awesome grilling steaks. He was a volunteer at the Sioux City Soup Kitchen and was proud of being a Senior Companion. Dick was proud to be a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Dick is survived by his daughter Vickie Fleming and her husband John of Sioux City; son Rick Warren and his wife Emma of Cohutta, Georgia; sister Nancy Vanderham of Sioux City; brothers Dennis Warren and his wife Shirley and Chuck Warren and his wife Jeanie, all of Sioux City; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia in 2004, and brothers Arnold, Bob, Don, Milan, and Jim Warren, and nephew Phillip Vanderham.
