SIOUX CITY | Karen Ann Uhl, 68 of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at her home from natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Karen was born Sept. 4, 1945 in Homer, NE the daughter of Ralph George and Amelia Lucille (Gagna) Beargeon. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1964. She married Jeff Uhl on March 27, 1965 in Sioux City. Karen held several production positions at IAMS Pet Food in North Sioux City, SD until retiring in 1999 due to health reasons. Karen was proud of being a cancer fighter and survivor which allowed her to volunteer at the Woodbury County Sheriffs' Office for the past 12 years. She enjoyed sitting on the front porch greeting those passing by and doing crossword puzzles. She loved her indoor pets and those she fed outside. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Survivors include 3 children and their spouses, Deb and Justin Parry of Stigler, OK, Randy and Staci Uhl, Rick and Ann Uhl, all of Sioux City; 5 siblings, Ralph "Sonny" Beargeon Jr. and his wife Frances, Juliann Scott and her husband Richard, Cheryl Beargeon, Jeannie Heuton and Mike, Sherry Newman and her husband Michael, all of Sioux City; and 5 grandchildren, Alicia Parry, Corey Parry, Paiten Parry, Matthew Sevier and Stephanie Sevier. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings, Donald Beargeon and Sharon Beargeon. Pallbearers will be Corey Parry, William Clift, Dwayne Howard, Steve VanLaningham, Jim Heuton and Tony Randall. Honorary pallbearers will be Alicia Parry, Paiten Parry, Matthew Sevier and Stephanie Sevier. The family requests casual dress attire, house slippers welcome.
