James "Jim" R. Anderson Sr., 74, of Sioux City passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation with the family present will be Friday from 5-7 P.M. with a Masonic Service held at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jim was born March 31st, 1939 at home in Correctionville, Iowa the son of Roy and Norma J. (Reed) Anderson. The family moved to Sioux City when Jim was four years old and he attended Sioux City Schools. He married Mary Wickstrom on September 12th, 1955 in Council Bluffs, IA. To this union, four children were born. Lifelong residents of Sioux City, Jim started his printing career at the Dakota Star in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He then worked for Bolstein Creative Services before he and Mary bought Harrington-Wallman in 1981. They owned and operated Anderson Printing until 1994 until he sold the business to his two sons. After retirement, the couple owned and operated Red Rose Antiques for 17 years until they had to close the doors due to Jim's health. Jim was a man of many talents and enjoyed restoring jukeboxes, which he was recognized world wide for, and restoring furniture. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan. He was always wanting to try new things such as deep sea fishing and hot air balloon rides, but most of all Jim enjoyed watching his grandchildren's activities. He was a member of the Sioux City Consistory Landmark Lodge #103 and the Abu Bekr Shine where he was involved in the Foot Patrol and the Sahibs. Jim was of the Protestant faith and attended different churches. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Anderson; his children Jake and wife Mary Sue Anderson of Sioux City, Tony and wife Karen of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Laurie and husband Allen Gray of Le Mars, IA, and Lisa and husband Marc Scheitler of Le Mars, IA; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two brothers Wendell and wife Judy Anderson of Green Valley, AZ and Gary and wife Beth Anderson of Red Wing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland or the Abu Bekr Transportation Fund in Jim's name.
