Martin Amos Babcock, 77, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, December 01, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Alfonso Solis officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Martin was born the youngest of 17 children on April 4, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa toArcher and Edna (McLain) Babcock. He attended Sioux City schools. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked at IBP for over 25 years working various jobs. He was married to Lucille H. Stading in 1983 in Sioux City. Martin enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Lucille H. Babcock of Sioux City; 5 children from a previous marriage, Pebbles, William, Pete, Jeff and James Babcock; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 16 brothers and sisters.
