Maxine F. Whiteside

Maxine F. Whiteside, 87 of Sioux City died peacefully at home on Friday, November 22, 2013. There will be a visitation with the family present from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Maxine was born September 3, 1926 in Oneonta, NY; she was the daughter of Lothar and Florence (Shields) Fieg. Maxine received her BA degree from State Teachers College in Oneonta, NY (SUNY Oneonta) and her MA degree from the University of Iowa in elementary education. She married Bob Whiteside in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was a member of the Junior League of Sioux City and AAUW. Survivors included her husband Dr. Robert M. Whiteside of Sioux City, 4 children: Marsha (Bill) Adams of Dakota Dunes, SD, Jeffrey (Kathi) Whiteside of Appleton, WI, Anne (Kevin) Still of Danville, IN, Bob (Kathy) Whiteside of West Branch, IA, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been established for a student in Woodbury or Plymouth County who demonstrates academic excellence & pursuit of a college degree in education or dentistry.
