Karen C. Moritz, 73, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Kristine Frank officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may by given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Karen was born February 1, 1940 in Sioux City the daughter of Ira and Vera (Glissman) Summers. She attended Central High School. Karen married Don Moritz on February 20, 1957. To this union, three children were born. Karen worked for various companies including Normandy, Little Pig, and Donnelley Marketing. She also did home daycare for 12 years. Her side jobs included concessions for the Ball Park, Auditorium, and most recently IBP Ice Center. She officially retired the day before she passed away. Karen was an avid Elvis collector and she loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband Don Moritz; three children: Teresa (Dave) Illig of Lincoln, NE, Donnie (Becky) Moritz of Sioux City, and Ronda (Tim) Long of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters-in-law Joan and Ione Summers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and four nephews. Memorials may be given to Whitfield United Methodist Church or Siouxland Humane Society in Karen's name.
