Barbara P. Smith

Barbara P. Smith 78, of Sioux City passed away Thursday November 14, 2013 at a Sioux City nursing home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior with the family present at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Barbara Smith was born July 25, 1935 in Sioux City Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Nellie Mae (Watterson) Keairns. She attended Sioux City schools and Married Jack Smith Jr. August 15, 1952 in Dakota City, Nebraska. He preceded her in death June 2, 1991. Barbara was employed at a waitress for several years at Green Gables in Sioux City. In her free time she was a Nascar fan and loved her two dogs and was Co founder of Help spay a pet. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, NE. and a member of the Humane Society. She is survived by her mother Nellie Keairns of Sioux City; One son Michael Smith of Sioux City; Two daughters; Jacki O'Neill and her husband Dan of Lincoln NE and Cindy Hanson and her husband Mark of Sioux City. Eight brothers: Robert, Harry, Neil, William, Kenneth, James, Steve and Scott. Five sisters; Carol Lane, Diana Butler, Kenna Mae Owens, Dorothy Dill and Sue Hubert 15 grandchildren 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Father, one daughter Cathy Donnelly and one brother Donald Keairns
