Aaron Michael Windschitl, 43, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Sergeant Bluff - Luton Elementary School in Sergeant Bluff. Chaplain Stephen Peters will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Graveside services with full military honors will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Iowa. Aaron was born July 28, 1970 in Webster City, IA; he was the son of Gene and Joan (Hutson) Windschitl. Aaron grew up in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School. He attended Iowa Central Community College in 1990 and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993. He was currently working on his master's degree at Briar Cliff University. Aaron married Tanya Shipley July 18, 2007 in Georgia. He is a medic in the HHT1-113th Calvary of the Iowa Army National Guard and was known as "Doc". He had served in Afganistan OEF 2010-2011. Aaron was also the owner and operator of Warriors Sports Bar & Grill in Sergeant Bluff. Surviviors include his wife Tanya of Sergeant Bluff, 6 children: Cassie Barrettt, Jay Michael and Joe Michael all of Sergeant Bluff, Caleb Windschitl of Moravia, IA, Carson Windschitl and Brody Windschitl both of Esterville, IA; his mother: Joan Windschitl of Webster City; a brother: Noah Windschitl of Denver, Co, paternal grandmother: Rosella Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, MN, a grandson: Jonathan Michael. Aaron was preceded in death by his father, Gene; maternal grandparents, Dr. H.F. and Alice Hutson; and paternal grandfather, Sylvester Winsdchitl. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Aaron's name.
