Carmen K. Michael, 64, of Sioux City passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Per her wishes her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. There will be no visitation. Burial of her cremains will be in the Melbourne Floyd Valley Cemetery in Rural Hinton. Carmen was born on June 13, 1949 in Sioux City to Ted and Pauline (Dicks) Burnes. She graduated from Sioux City Schools. Carmen worked the majority of her life as a Beautician but most recently worked for Wells Blue Bunny. She was married to Gregory Michael on December 31, 1985 in Elk Point, SD. He preceded her in death. Besides her work, Carmen was also a care giver to the homebound. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage. She recently was dealt the perfect hand in one of her cribbage games. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, animals, and movies. She was very dedicated and well known for her unique christmas gifts for people which she hand knitted and crocheted. She is survived by her brothers James (Kathleen) McClain of Sioux City; and Ted Burnes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and a brother.
