Donn Philip Ryan

Donn Philip Ryan age 83 of Westfield, Iowa passed away Sunday November 10, 2013 with his family by his side. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Mike Porter will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday all at the funeral home. Donn was born August 24, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa to Philip Joseph and Gladys Pearl (Fisher) Ryan. He married Mary Jane Crawford October 31,1953. Donn served in the Korean Conflict as a Radar Specialist from 1951-1953. He worked at the Sioux City Postal Service and retired May 2, 1986. He and his wife, Mary farmed in rural Westfield since 1967. He was an active bee keeper and member of Sioux Bee Honey Association. His hobbies were ballroom dancing, stearman aircraft and he was an avid reader of history and Louis L'Amour. Donn loved spending time on his farm with his family and traveling with his grandchildren. He is survived by wife Mary Jane (Crawford) Ryan, four children Diana (Darcy) Jacobson, Lauri (Elliot) Waddell, Sandra (Todd) Finzen and Kenneth (Molly) Ryan, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and one sister Gladene (Richard) Klienberg. Donn was preceded in death by parents, one brother Darrel Ryan, a son Mark Allen Ryan and daughter Judy Ann Ryan and a granddaughter Sheri Jo Jacobson. Honorary Pallbearers are Darcy Jacobson, Elliot Waddell, Todd Finzen, Ryan Jacobson, Thad Finzen, Garrett Finzen, Beau Waddell, Jacob Ryan.
