Patricia A. Olson

Patricia "Pat" A. Olson, 78 of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2013. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Laurie Van Cura officiating. A private interment will follow. Visitation will be on Friday, November 15th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Pat was born on December 22, 1934 in Sioux City to Charles Franklin "Frank" and Helen (Dean) Willett. She received her education in the Sioux City Public Schools, graduating from Central High with the Class of 1953. Pat worked at the Green Parrott restaurant following graduation before her marriage to Arnold "Arnie" Olson on September 15, 1954 in Sioux City. She was a homemaker to her five children before she and her husband owned and operated the Pla-Mor Lanes bowling alley in Kingsley, Iowa from 1977 until 1985. Pat enjoyed playing cards with friends, cooking, baking, including making Christmas Candy every year for family and friends. She loved going to, and having, garage sales. Pat loved her family, coaching her kids and grandkids throughout the years on how to properly throw a bowling ball. She was a wonderful mother and often said, "Tough times never last, but tough people do." Pat is survived by her son Jerrod Olson and his wife Mary Beth; three daughters Camille Farley and her husband John, Jodi Rotert, and Malissa Pierce and her husband Doug; 15 grandchildren Krissy Haverland, Joseph and wife Becca Farley, Jonathon and wife Katie Farley, Jack Farley and wife Amanda, Calie Croston and fiance' Aaron Goertz, Bret Croston, Lauren Rotert, Andrew Olson and wife April, Christopher Olson and wife Abby, Alex Olson, Ryan Olson, Caitlin Olson, Adam Peterson, Abbie Peterson, and Brooklyn Grace Pierce; 9 great-grandchildren Isaac, Felicity, Emma, Hayden, Kennedy, Lincoln, Kaydance, Betsy, Dagney and one on the way; sisters-in-law Sonja Sigaty and Glenda Bousquet. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnie in 2011, son Jeff Olson, son-in-law Dave Rotert, and one brother Charles Franklin "Bud" Willett. The family would like to send special thanks to Hospice of Siouxland and Prime Living. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
