Donna Carpenter

Donna Carpenter, 77, of Dakota City, NE passed away Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Randall Knuth officiating. Visitation with the family present will be Monday, November 11th, 2013 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Donna was born January 6th, 1936 in Lww, Poland, the daughter of Peter and Karoline (Lukash) Zerebecka. The family immigrated to the United States in 1951. Donna married Wayne Carpenter in 1974 in Dakota City, NE and preceded her in death on July 4th, 1984 in Sioux City. Donna worked for Zenith and retired from Sunshine Foods in 2000. She enjoyed ceramics, fishing, gardening, trips to the River Boat, and cooking, but her greatest love was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her little dog Missy and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Donna was also a member of Hope Lutheran in South Sioux City, NE. Survivors include her children: Marilynn "Susie" Smith of San Francisco, CA, Ted and wife Kim Schneiders of Sioux City, and Tamara and husband Mark Thorson of Sioux City; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister Jan Kiefer of Wynot, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and three brothers in law.
