SIOUX CITY | Joanne Mishler, 85 of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at the Akron (Iowa) Care Center after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with lay minister, Mary Wells officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today with the family present 6 - 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Joanne was born June 16, 1928 in Washta, IA the daughter of Laurence and Floy (Williams) Deming. The family moved to Sioux City in 1929 where she graduated from East High School. On June 11, 1947 she married Donald L. Mishler in Sioux City. He died March 12, 1992 in Sioux City. Joanne worked at Ben's Thrifty Market for 8 years. She also was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She was a longtime active member of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ. Joanne enjoyed crossword puzzles and old time black and white movies. She was faithful visiting people she knew that were hospitalized. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Karen and David Allen of Akron, IA; a son and his wife, Gary and Jan Mishler of Le Mars, IA; a sister Altha Florin in Roanoke, Virginia; 7 grandchildren, Jenell (Mitch) Lanning, Todd (Mindi) Allen, Curt (Tara) Allen, Michelle Haines, Amy (John) Westbrook, Kristi Mishler and Becky Mishler; 4 step-grandchildren, Kim (Kirk) Holzman, Sherry (Dan) Nacke, Amy (Rick) Hicks and Krista (Branden) Gramlow; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, Ralph and Walter Deming and a sister, Audrey Tennant. Memorials may be made in her name to Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ.
