Rickey D. Schroeder, Sr.

Rickey D. Schroeder, Sr., 67, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Visitation with the family present will be Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Rickey was born the son of Donald and Lois (Masteller) Schroeder on October 28, 1945 in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his schooling in the Sioux City schools. Rickey married Teresa Schroeder on January 18, 1964 in Sioux City. They have been lifelong Sioux City residents. Rickey worked as a mailer and union steward for the Sioux City Journal for 46 years before retiring in 2010. Rickey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the most important part of his life and always came first. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's activities and playing tennis. Rickey is survived by his wife, Teresa of Sioux City; one son, Rickey (Laurie) Schroeder, Jr. of Hinton, Iowa; one daughter, Lisa (Tom Leonard) Rhymer of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Michael (Judith) Schroeder of Pierre, South Dakota and Dennis (Gae) Schroeder of Wall Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Cindy (Kevin) Fullmer of Thornton, Colorado and Donette (Tom) Orness of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayla, Taylor, Adam, and Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Christian and Kaydrian. He was preceded in death by his parents.
