Rosa Rivera, 85 of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at her residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Cathedral Of The Epiphany with Father William J. Vit as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel beginning at noon today and concluding at the time of the Mass on Thursday. Rosa was born on September 4, 1928 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Cirino and Paula (Hernandez) Aguirre. She received her education in Chihuahua before her marriage to Jose Rivera. To this union, 10 children were born. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lost her husband at an early age and moved to Sioux City from Mexico in 1984, where she's lived with her daughter Guadalupe and grandchildren Ana and Jose. She enjoyed family, cooking for family, spending time with all the kids, flowers, gardening (when her health allowed) and watching soap operas. Rosa is survived by her children Rogelio, Bertha, Jose, Catalina, Rosa, Irma, Alejandro, Isabel, Guadalupe, and Rosa I.; and 38 grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jose in 1969.
