Charlene D. Tastad, 80, of Pender passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Charlene D. Tastad was born June 9, 1933, in James, Iowa, the daughter of Thurman and Dorothy (Rowe) Dahl. She married Ordine Tastad on Jan. 18, 1953, in Jackson, Minn. Charlene was employed as a sales clerk at Sears and then later with Tractor Supply in Sioux City. She was a member of the ABWA, a Weight Watchers counselor and was a past member of the Eagles. Charlene was also the first woman caddy at Arnolds Park, as the story is told. In her free time she loved to camp, swim, play bingo and watch soaps but most of all, spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She is survived by her husband, Ordine "Todd" Taastad of Pender; two sons, Todd Tastad and his wife, Julie, and Ted Tastad and his wife, Terry, both of Sioux City; two daughters, Carla Urbanec and her husband, Richard, of Pender, and Linda Baldes and her husband, Marty, of Denton, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Vernon Dahl.
