Dora Ida (Fick) Chellew, 79, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, September 27th, 2013 at a local care facility following a lengthy illness. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 30th, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran with Reverend Kenny Hsu officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 29th, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Dora was born June 17th, 1934 on the family farm in Monona County, the daughter of John and Meta (Meyer) Fick. She attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Mapleton High School in 1953. Dora married Lowell Edward Chellew on January 28th, 1968 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Mapleton, IA. Dora was a switchboard operator and clerk for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company immediately after high school and retired as a dispatcher from US West Company on April 4, 1993. Dora was active in the St. Paul Lutheran Altar Guild, Mary Martha Circle, E.S.L. Program, Friends of Christ, and Mission Quilting. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bird feeding, playing cards and board games, crocheting, embroidery, sodoku, and traveling the United States and Cruises. Those left to cherish Dora's memory are her husband Lowell Chellew, children: Mark Chellew, Deb Chellew, Steve and wife Lisa Chellew; grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan, and Caitlyn Chellew; step grandchildren: Jennifer and Benjamin Gilley, and Joshua Olson; sisters: Alta Patterson, Opal Maguire, and Wilma and husband Doug Siefker. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Meta Fick; brothers Wilfred Fick and Arnold Fick; and sister Esther Rickert. Pallbearers will be Matthew Chellew, Ryan Chellew, Todd Siefker, Scott Siefker, David Siefker, and Bruce Fick. Memorials may be given in Dora's name to the St. Paul Lutheran School.
