William "Bill" Danderand, 72 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his residence. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1st at the funeral home. Bill was born on May 29, 1941 in Jefferson, South Dakota to Joseph H. and Wilimina (Roark) Dandurand. He received his education in Jefferson, graduating with the Class of 1960. Bill served our country in the United States Army, having been stationed in Panama as a medic. He married Gigi Pottebaum on April 28, 1984 in Sergeant Bluff. Bill returned to the Sioux City area, and worked for Western States as a receiving clerk, and retired in 2000 due to medical issues. Bill enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball for over 20 years, maintaining an impressive garden for even longer; however, he was passionate about his love for hockey. In addition to being a fan and season ticket holder for the Sioux City Musketeers for over 40 years, he also volunteered his time with the team in many capacities, including goal judge, trainer, and equipment manager. Bill will be lovingly missed by his family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife Gigi of Sioux City; Children Roxanne Danderand of Mississippi, William Joseph Danderand and his wife Julie of Naperville, IL, John Danderand and his wife Christine of Omaha, NE, and Illiana Quinlain of Sioux City; brother Ed Danderand and his wife Jan of Florence, AZ; sisters Genevieve Price and her husband Jim of Milford, KS and Josephine Arrington and her husband Woodrow of South Sioux City, NE; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Danderand, and grandson Dustin White.
