SIOUX CITY, IA | Florence R. Larson, 94 of Sioux City died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, Nebr. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at Morningside Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Florence Larson was born February 11, 1919 in Sioux City, IA, daughter of Jesse R. and Mary (Molskow) Rhodes. In 1925 she moved with her parents to Watertown, SD where she attended Mellette and Grant Elementary Schools and Watertown Junior High School. She returned to Sioux City and graduated from East High School; in 1937. She attended National Business college in Sioux City and was employed as a Medical Secretary for a number of years. She was also employed by the Sioux City Community Schools as an Educational Secretary for the County Area Education Agency. She married Harry M. Larson December 31, 1941 in Sioux City. She was widowed in 1999. Florence was a long time member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, where she served as a church school teacher, church school secretary, as well as coordinator of Vacation Bible School. She was active in the Women's groups of the church. Mrs. Larson, an ordained Deacon, was honored as "Morningside Presbyterian of the Year". She was an avid reader and a member of the Riparian Study Club. She also served as Cub Scout Den Mother. Florence was a resident at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, NE for the past three years, singing and whistling her tunes. She had a good sense of humor, and many who took care of her, said she was a bright spot in their day. Survivors include a son Eric Larson and wife Sara Sue of Homer, NE; four grandsons, Micah and Connie Larson in Elk Point, SD, Steve and Ericka Loofe of Florida, Tom and Kari Loofe of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dan Loofe of Sioux City, IA; and nine great grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband Harry, her parents and a sister Frances Feddersen.
