Clair R. Chrestensen, 80 of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, September 03, 2013 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Clair was born June 30, 1933 in Newcastle, NE; he was the son of Charles and Mary (Burger) Chrestensen. Clair grew up in Minnesota and in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1954. Clair married Donna (Sassman) Sexton May 30, 1992 in Sioux City. Clair worked for Guarantee Roofing, Enfield Roofing and J.C. Roofing. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He is survived by his wife Donna; 2 daughters: Pam Tranmer (Gary), Kathy Arreola (William) all of South Sioux City, NE; step children: Gerald Girard (Paula) of South Sioux City, Terry Larson (Jerry) of Sioux City, IA. Clair gained another family after his marriage to Donna; his step children: Deb Youngren of Sioux City, Diane Walding (Jeff) of Merrill, IA, Darlene Kelley (Roger) of Sioux City, Dennis Sexton (Carol) of Sioux City, a special nephew: Henry Chrestensen (Tina) of Lawton, IA; sister: Lorraine Jaminet of Sioux City;17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Clair will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Jessie Ryan, Dan Hoxsie, Nick Youngren, Jason Tranmer, Nick Arreola and Alex Nochez. The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland for all the care they gave to Clair.
